About Me

Bio, the short version

Close-up of a smiling woman with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and wearing a yellow top.

A former lawyer, Lynne thinks writing books for teens is much more fun. She’s the author of the award-winning NIL series, a young-adult trilogy about a mysterious island where teens have one year to escape, or die. Her debut novel, NIL, was awarded a “Perfect 10” and a starred review from VOYA. NIL was also a 2015-16 Florida Teens Read Award Finalist, as well as an Eliot Rosewater Indiana High School Book Award Finalist and a Missouri Gateway Readers Award Finalist for 2016-17. Lynne’s books have been translated into multiple languages and are on numerous state reading lists, and the entire NIL series (NIL, NIL UNLOCKED, and NIL ON FIRE) has been optioned for film and/or tv. A fourth book, NIL REMEMBERED, is a free novella, available as a digital download from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

When she’s not writing books or reading them, you’ll find Lynne listening to music, going for a walk, messing around with paint, or hanging out with her husband and their four boys . . . probably at the beach. Cookies are her kryptonite, especially Thin Mints.

I grew up in Georgia, drinking lemonade, and later, sweet tea. Now I like to mix the two. (Hello, Arnold Palmer.) Our house was chock full of books. Science fiction novels, mysteries, fantasy & romance novels--we had them all; reading was a huge part of our family's life. So was the outdoors. Each fall we'd travel to North Georgia to pick apples and pumpkins and feel leaves crunching under our feet; each summer we'd go the the beach in South Carolina and marvel at the ocean. I still love the mountains and the beach with equal passion.

When college rolled around, in an inexplicable quirk of fate, I defected south to the University of Florida and fell in love with the cutest boy EVER. And then I stayed. Florida's awesome--not counting the mosquitoes and freaky bugs that still weird me out. Now I still stay up late reading books and writing them. When I don't have a book in my hand, you’ll find me listening to music, going to concerts, going for a walk with a friend, messing around with paint, or hanging out with my husband and our four boys . . . or all of the above. Possibly at the beach. Or the tennis court, lacrosse field, football games or wherever our friends and family happen to be:) My weakness? Cookies, especially Thin Mints and homemade chocoalte chip cookies.

My first job out of college was folding t-shirts with a clipboard at The Gap, and then (shocker) I went to law school. I started adulting as a lawyer. But now, I write books. I'm a HUGE fan of stories that ask "what if" . . . stories with a twist on everyday life and stories that transport you to another world or a different future. I'm also a hopeless romantic, so I adore stories with a dash of romance. (Or heaps.) As most writers do, I write the kind of books I like to read.

Let's see...what else would you like to know? I'm a big fan of lists. (Lists make me feel more organized than I really am.) And speaking of lists, here's three...

Five basic-and-absolutely-true facts about me:
5. I married my college sweetheart. (See? Hopeless romantic. :D)
4. I have four amazing boys that I love more than I dreamed I ever could.
3. I LOVE alternative & indie music.
2. I hate stopping to fill up my car with gas (so my car constantly runs dangerously low).
1. I read freakishly fast.

Five totally random facts about me:
5. I used to be an attorney.
4. NIL was inspired during a trip to Hawaii and I wrote the opening chapters during that trip. They never changed.
3. The Edge of Tomorrow is one of my top five favorite films of all time and is SO underrated.
2. I can’t exercise without music.
1. I believe in love at first sight—or at least an insta-connection with your soul mate to be.

Bio (the long version)...in Lynne's words. This is also where you can find ALL THE  SCOOP in case you need it for a school project:

Rocky coastline with black volcanic rocks, sandy beach, and ocean waves under a blue sky.
